Touch Pad click Disable?

I know this sounds like a dumb question, but does anyone know how to disable the click on the touchpad on a lappy?

Running XP Pro on this laptop, and user has an external USB mouse, but
has that annoying problem of hitting the left or right click with her wrists during use
and causing it to move or click.

I told her to try Control Panel>Mouse> and check the settings for a disable click option,
but she can't find any such options in Mouse settings.
I don't have my laptop with me right now, so can't go in there and check myself.

Any advice appreciated....😀

Those options might not be included unless she installs the manufacturer's drivers for the touchpad (like Synaptics or Alps). Go to the notebook manufacturer's web site and see if there is a download for it.

All of the current Compaq and H-P lappies have an on/off switch located right above the touchpad. Most others require that be done in BIOS. I keep mine off all the time and use a mini-Targus optical mouse. Touchpads suck!

Are you referring to "Tapping" or the actual buttons themselves? Tapping can be disabled in the drivers. You have to go to Mouse Properties under the Control Panel and from there it usually under something like a "Synaptics Touchpad" tab, sometimes also hidden there under something like a "Preferences" button.
If you're referring to the buttons, which it sounds like, I believe the BIOS is the only way to disable those buttons as corkyg suggested.
If you need specific directions on how to change Tapping, let me know.
Hope this helps
