Totally uninstalling Voodoo 3 drivers?

ConfusedNewbie

Hello, I am ready to put a new video card in my machine, and someone told me I should make sure I have totally removed my old voodoo 3 drivers before doing this.

Is this true? How should I go about doing this? Thankyou!

(1) Uninstall the 3dfx tools (control panel -> add/remove programs).
(2) Run regedit and search for "3dfx", "glide", and "voodoo" and delete everything you find.
(3) Go to the device manager and remove the Voodoo3.
(4) Reboot. Cancel if Windows re-detects the video card.
(5) Do a search for "3dfx", "glide" and "voodoo" on C: and delete all your files.
(6) Shut down. Replace the Voodoo with your new card.
(7) Start up the machine. Cancel when Windows detects the card.
(8) Run the installer for your new drivers and reboot.
(9) If you've lost your resolutions re-install your monitor drivers.
