Just wanted to make sure before I bought a HD....if I have a bh6 I can slap a quantum 30gig 7200rpm ata100 drive in there without using a seperate card, correct? it will run on the older ide ata settings of the mobo? Dont hate me becuase im ignorant!
thanks for any repsonse anyone deems give

yes the ata standard is backwards compatible. On older mobo's you might need a bios update to support larger hdd thouhg. But at 30 gigs you should be fine.

You will be good to go. Slap it in! You will just have to make sure the drive firmware is set to run at ATA33. You can download utilities from the quantum website to make those changes.

Update BH6 BIOS to the latest on Abit's web site, and enable large drive support in BIOS settings. Be sure to get the correct BIOS for your version of the BH6 - site explains how to identify.
