Totally Laughable!

Ok, so I come here and BANG!

On the way here I was thinking of how I would word my question. Then I saw this heading "Would it be easier to cut an apple in a 4 dimensional universe." So right then I decided to word my question so it would be Laughable.

Question; What is the very first thing that happens when you turn the power switch on to your computer. Which part of the motherboard is supplied power first? ( To some of you this question is laughable, to others it is inquisitive)

Top ten anyone?

A) Very first thing that happens is a circuit is completed on the PON line on the motherboard. That goes into the motherboard which checks the POK pin on the ATX power connector, to make sure there is voltage there.

B) On an ATX system, the system is always powered to some degree.

#1: The reset hold IC.
This IC basically keeps all processors in a reset state until the voltage has built up to an acceptable level.

(I'm not including the PS itself, nor am I including standby power)

But remember, when power is applied, it's applied over an entire plane of the motherboard. There is no real power on sequence.

Or if it's on an AT system, the switch itself gets power first.

I'm with Demon-Xanth on this one.

You don't want the motherboard running until it gets the full +5/12/-5/-12 voltages, hence the reset hold IC to keep everything disabled until full voltage output.

Yeah, but it would actually be possible to get power to the mobo before you hit the button in a four dimensional universe...and you could eat an apple too.

Plug in one your your I or II led's into the mobo and it should stay lit even when the comp is "off" Powersupply is started by the motherboard. So In actuallity, i think the first thing that gets power is start button, which is kinda always powered.
