Total War: Warhammer

When did Dawn of War even turn into just some action game?

Also I love the fantasy setting maybe even more than 40K but nothing that comes out of Creative Assemblies is that good anymore so I fear this game just might be insulting to the Warhammer Fantasy setting.

Although The End Times might just ruin the whole settings anyways.

Last Total War game I bought was Shogun 2, this is a definite purchase for me. I just hope it has Skaven as a playable race

DoW2 was a hero driven game where DoW1 was a resource, base-building, and more traditional RTS. I didn't care where they took the DoW series.

DOW2 was a RTT with some RPG inspirations and mechanics.

If they were to advance the RTT mechanics and add in a well thought out traditional turn based strategic campaign then I think that is where it could go in any DOW3 installments.

Ever play Soulstorm?

DoW multiplayer is still RTS, just no base building. Not really sure why they went with the hero campaigns though. CoH style limited unit missions would have been better.

That would mean that Creative Assemblies would have to take the jump from terrestrial campaigns to astrological campaigns.

40k has piles of terrestrial combat...

Yes but that would be for the battles.

How are you going to run the turn based campaign?

It could be a planet campaign. I agree a interstellar campaign would be cool though. Would be bad ass to have random space hulk events and tyranids constant pressure.

Yea Soulstorm was a multi-planet terrestrial campaign. And all the battles were producing units on the campaign turns and battles were starting units only as far as I can remember at all.

Do you still play any multiplayer from the original game ever at all?

I originally bought the game a few years ago and never played the multiplayer. Last year though I downloaded it again and worked toward the 40k kills; and I played a few multiplayer rounds but I don't think there's many players left.

What I like about it is the melee combat - knocking orks down and stomping their heads, so awesome! I like Bulletstorm for similar reasons, be nice to have Bulletstorm 2.

As a fan of the Total War series since the very beginning, and not a very big fan of Warhammer, I honestly think this is the right move.

It gives them some much needed flexibility, and keeps the series fresh from becoming just another historical entry rehash (Rome 2, Shogun 2, Medieval 2, etc) with better graphics.

I've said for awhile, the next Total War game should either be a fantasy (like this), or something set in the Three Kingdoms/Ancient China. I think that would be superb. But they probably realized that far too many mouth-breathers would say, "Hurrrrr but thats jest like that SHOW-GUNN game cuz all thems Asians look the same durrr" , which I've actually heard many times on different forums. 🙄

So I'll be looking forward to this and hopefully it turns out well.

After the disaster that was TW Rome 2 I think I'll pass on that one for at least an entire year until they release patch #29 and it finally becomes playable (not to mention perhaps enjoyable).

I hope they learned the lesson on that. Shogun 2 was great. Rome 2 is in my steam list but I havent even started it. lol.

Have thought about Shogun 2 as when I tried the demo I still was not favorable to the building slots but the game still was fun and such.

Rome 2 however sucks even patched and it is not worth purchasing for more than $10 for the whole complete collection of the base game and all DLC and crap.

Can't say as I've followed the Total War series but, if it deviates an inch from the rules in Warhammer or, it's back story, there will be a hell of a backlash from Warhammer fans.
