I fresh install Winxp pro that connect to dynamic cable modem.
Everything works fine w/out setting or changing any IP address.

Then I install this Dlink Wi-Fi wireless router and I can't connect to internet.

cable modem-> wi-fi wireless router -> PC.

What's going on? isn't this router suppose to be plug and play?
(yes, I update the newest firmware but...do I need to change PC name? assign IP? ...I tried both, but still no go)

help~~~~

Many Internet Cable Providers use the MAC number of you computer NIC as a mean of authentication (password).

Since a Router comes with his own MAC. The Router provides a menu entry that will allow you to clone the MAC number of the Registered NIC, thus the MAC number of the NIC becomes the MAC number of the Router.

Cable/DSL Routers are Not Plug and Play. You need to log to the Router's address and make sure that it is correctly set for Cable Internet.

How should I do it?

READ THE MANUAL.

sure. connect the printer to the desktop, share it, and install a wireless device to each computer. Use wireless devices in an ad-hoc mode, and you have a network.
