Total newb question: How do I run dual-channel mem

I'm upgrading to an new Epox socket 939 board and need new ram
But how do I run dual-channel mem?

The only reason that I ask is that I am looking at Geil value mem and noticed one stick was normal and one was dual-channel. Do you have to have the dual-channel to run in dual-channel, and if so do you have to have both sticks or can you run them solo?

There is no such thing as "dual channel memory",,,If your motherboard supports it your memory will run in dual channel but only the if two sticks are the same> same speed, same amount of mb, same brand...(even than there is a chance ...very very small chance....that the sticks dont work well together, or so ive heard)

If you are looking for Geil memory, buy a "kit of 2" or "matched pair", that means the sticks are tested to work in dual channel...That way you are absolutely sure they will run in dual channel mode with most performance...
Also put the mem sticks in the correct memory slots as well, usually first and third or something...

buying a dual channel kit is the best idea IMO, and sometimes u can snap up great deals on them too, the dual channel kit jus means they are a matched pair of DIMMS thats all, u could easily buy 2 seperate sticks (same manufacturer, speed, timings etc) and it would work, but maybe have more chance of not working
