Hi, is there a way to monitor the traffic that goes over an internet connection? I mean a way to see the data sent and received by the connection? I am a total noob and I'm sorry if this question is simple. I'm trying to understand networks better so maybe a visual representation of what is happening would be nice.

I use Ubuntu and I can run some commands from the terminal, so if there's something in there also I should know about I'd appreciate if you guys could share with me thank you very much

Wireshark is a fantastic tool, but not for the faint of heart, it is VERY confusing if you dont know what you are looking at.
