i've installed 2 256mb sticks of crucial ddr2100 but only the first 256 is recognized in w2k AND in the bios. It's a DVD266-R dual PIII processor board and I've looked over various sites but there doesn't seem to be any known issues relating to this problem.

Of course my initial reaction was to suspect that i had been sent 128mb sticks of ram by mistake but no, the ram is marked as 256mb and if i remove one of the modules and boot up it still lists 256mb ram. I've tried various configurations in the ram slots but still no go.

can anyone suggest a solution or at least tell me why this is?

thanks

sounds like a faulty module. Can you start up your machine with the module that does not recognise. If so, then its your motherboards fault, either in the BIOS or actually the slot if fecked.

Post back with results!
