I have a dell inspiron 4100 running winME with an installed 10/100 PCMCIA ethernet card. It is hubbed to 2 other computers all running the same os, all with the same protocols, and all with the same network settings. The 2 desktop systems send/receive files fast from each other (well as fast as windows networking can do) but the laptop maxes out at a wopping 10 Kb/sec. i have contacted the manufacturers of the network card, tried installing all protocols again and contacted Dell support. Nobody can tell me why this is happening. There is a shared tcp/ip dsl connection across the hub that works fine for all systems. the laptop can download 100 Kb/sec from the internet but only about 10Kb from other systems that it pings at under 5 ms. i am frustrated.

Check your network cables. I had a similar problem a while back so I cut the ends off my cable and put on new ones and changed the order of the wires to one of the industry standards (I didn't know about them when I made the cables). Of course only do this if you know how to.

Try pulling known working ethernet cables on your network and using that with the notebook.

Then try new drivers. I once had a NAT box that transfers data at a snails pace, then I installed new drivers, and speeds took off like a rocket.
