My wife's Thrive's screen broke after a short fall. First considered repairing it but Toshiba seems to charge $250 for a screen change. So now I'm looking for a replacement 10" Android tablet. Currently looking at the Transformer ($317) and Yoga ($260). Any others I should consider around $300?

If you want to go even cheaper, there is also the ASUS Memopad FHD 10 for $240.

This is the low end one to buy. The old TF models (anything before the current TF701) are junk because of the slow flash memory controller.

On the high end, there's the Note 10.1 2014 or the TabPro 10.1 (TabPro is lighter -- actually lighter than the iPad Air -- but has no S Pen). Wouldn't recommend anything else in this size.

How does the Google Nexus 10" compare with the new Transformer? That would mean going up to about $400.

it runs honeycomb, you should definitely replace it.

I think the Yoga looks silly. Get a transformer.

Nexus 10 has a very nice screen but the SOC is hugely outdated (dual A15, last year's were quad) and storage is limited. Also I think AOSP is suboptimal for the 10" format.

At $400 I'd suggest the refurb Note 10.1 2014 over the TF701. Lighter, with multi-window and pen:
