Okay, I had heard some news earlier, but not really seen anything until mentioned in another thread. This one slipped by me - 8gb, 16gb, 32gb. Sporting mini and full USB, HDMI, and a FULL SD card slot? This sounds awesome. A file browser included to look through the card and USB devices - this could be the tablet worth waiting for. The back rubber panel, as well as the battery, are interchangeable.

$579.99 for the 32gb doesn't seem like a bad deal. Throw in a 32gb SD and you've got a 64gb tablet with the ability to use media through a usb device. Sounds awesome.
Wifi, GPS, full/mini USB, full size HDMI, full size SDHC, GPS, HD LED 1280x800 display, switchable battery/back, built in apps for remote PC connection, Android 3.1 Honeycomb, Dual cameras (2.0 front, 5.0 back).

Best Buy website has an arrival date of 07/10-07/15/2011 (estimated).

Anybody else looking forward to it? Any speculations/comments?

Seems like more $ for the same hardware compared to the Asus. I mean I see the USB on it vs on the dock on the Asus... but unless I am missing something?

Does the Transformer have GPS? I dunno about the screen either - the HD LED sounds nice, but not sure if it will be an IPS or what?? As for the other, I really like full size SD vs micro, as that way I can hook my camera card directly into it, and the cards are easier to come by and cheaper.

Yes, the Transformer has GPS.

Okay. $499 is for the 32gb version...I really don't like the lack of a full size USB port, but love the ability to dock it. I was really looking at the Transformer before this one.

Specs from Newegg on Thrive:
Physical spec

Dimensions
10.75" x 6.97" x 0.62"

Weight
1.6 lbs

Comparisons between 32gb of Iconia, Transformer, and Thrive:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Productcompare.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=50001146%2040000407&IsNodeId=1&bop=And&ActiveSearchResult=True&CompareItemList=407|34-214-356^34-214-356-02%23%2C34-230-019^34-230-019-TS%2C34-215-078^34-215-078-TS

Another thing the Toshiba has is the Toshiba Resolution+ VideEnhancement Technology which sounds real interesting.
Toshiba has BT 3.0 + HS (what is HS?) vs 2.1 on Transformer
1.6lb Thrive vs 1.49 Transformer.
0.47" vs 0.62" -- A little bit thicker than the Transformer.

Apparently the XOOM is a bit heavier at 1.61lbs, and I really like the feel of the XOOM.

The question isn't how it feels when you're lifting it at the store, it's how it feels after you've been using it for an hour or two.

True this. While I love my transformer, an hour of reading whilst holding this really starts to hurt depending on reading position. I am sure all the tabs will hurt eventually but maybe I could go longer without the ache.

I'm not going to be holding my tablet most of the time anyways without it sitting on my lap that I forsee, so this doesn't seem like a large issue to me.

Really wish I was able to see both in person, but I feel more confident with the Toshiba feel/build quality already for some reason. I just hear a lot about how the Asus isn't bad, but does have inferior build quality compared to all the other a bit more expensivr tablets out there rigbt now. I like the idea of the rubber back that he Toshiba sports. I don't think I'll be dissapointed with either, but still wish I could get my hands on both.

Yea the rubber backing seems like it will give a little more piece of mind, rather than slippery plastic or metal. Won't know until I see it in person though.

Removable battery as well.

I might pick one of these up

Yeah, I'm really considering it. I'm going to wait for reviews before I finally pull the trigger, but def. leaning towards it.

OMG...they have the Acer Iconia for $380 on eBay...damn I really want to jump on that.

Got to hold mine tonight. Wow, impressive. Feels completely awesome in your hands. It has the sturdiness of the Xoom but feels as light as the Transformer. Very responsive. Screen is not as good as Transformer or iPad. One thing was that I could see all the vertical lines of pixels running down if you looked close enough - odd, but not enough to tear me away from the functionality of the thing. Plugged a flashing drive right into it, out of the box was able to read documents and PDFs. YouTube played 720p in the BROWSER perfectly, but 1080p was choppy. In the YouTube app it was smooth too, but not sure if that stayed at 720p or 1080p. The file browser is a little bit sluggish at first, but completely usable. I love the thing already, can't wait to pick it up Monday evening. And all this was running straight out of the box, I downloaded it and signed into nothing.

Regretably, BB did not have any Thrives on display last weekend. They had plaques out for them and spec cards, with a stand, but no units.

Gonna have to check BB this weekend, see if they have a Thrive on display. If its as light as the Transformer with the build quality of the Xoom, I might bite into the hype. :p

I sold my buddy on the Thrive, I'll check his out soon. Hopefully with Honeycomb the Android tablet market will take off and start eating Apple's lunch.

Impressions? And are you able to make a direct comparison to other Tegra/HC tablets? I assume the Thrive is launching with HC 3.1 and not 3.2 yet?

I did an unboxing video (how worthless :awe:) and want to do a video and written review when I get some time on it. I've already messed with it a bit, and so far all seems well. Only thing so far is that it didn't recognize videos recorded on my Nikon L120 plugging SD card straight in. Not sure what format they are. Gonna plug in my 3TB drive in a second here.

Never understand the point of an unboxing video, after you've bought 1 electronic gadget, unboxing is pretty much identical. :p

There's exceptions though, but 99.99% of them are the same.

My 3TB MyBook isn't being read by it. D: Maybe because it is USB 3.0? Hoping so... Don't have a flash drive handy, disappointed if it is too big for it...You can hear/feel it initialize, and even blinks for a few seconds, but won't show up in file manager even waiting 5 minutes or so. Thinking it might have too much data on it.
