Got mine today. Nice shipment packing. My drive was also manufactured in July 00. Installed and configured no problem.

Using PowerDVD software to watch movies. Nice. Accessing files on DVD is crisp, this drive is FAST! Much needed upgrade from the 8x

Having problems with RIPing movies from the drive, but then again I'm new to the realm so tweaking and troubleshooting is in order.

I LIKE it!

The only coupons I found at techbargs and fatw@llet for onvia are for those damn canadians..sorry I mean our friendly neighbors to the north. Did they expire? or is this a canadians deal, $78 canadian is one heck of a deal. Thanks.

I ordered one last week, it isn't here yet but I got a tracking number. I don't think I'll keep it. If anyone wants it I'll sell it for $80 + $4 Priority Mail ship, PayPal. E-mail if interested

Namuna,
Ripping was one of my primary reason for getting the drive.
Hopefully we can help each other 😉
Feel free to contact me, I'll try my best to answer any questions.

PS: My drive has not been delivered yet 🙁

I received my drive back on Friday. If anyone's interested, it does DAE at 8-9x 🙂 Much better than the 4x I was getting with my old Philips 5x DVD drive.

narciarz - The best DVD software is either PowerDVD or WinDVD. I perfer PowerDVD, but others like WinDVD. I think WinDVD is cheaper and has slightly better visual quality. But PowerDVD is easier to use and has better video hardware support (correct me if I'm wrong).

8-9X DAE? I was going to maybe trade my Plextor 40X for a toshiba DVD but I guess not, too slow (DAE)!

Is anyone using this drive to RIP DVD's succesfully? I mean thats why I want a DVD-ROM. I've already got a nice one for my HT.

everything works great for me... don't know how long it would take with a slower dvd, but it took me about 30 minutes to get from dvd to hd using daddvd.

Why doesn't my CD rom door open?? do you have to stick in something in the emergency slot for it to open the first time or just press the button?? I don't get it!!!
