toshiba satellite laptop trouble

hey guys i will update the exact model of the laptop when i get home.. its a friend of mines and whenever you hit the power button an orange light blinks 3 or 4 times and then nothing else happens...the screen never lights up and i cant seem to find out whats going on with it..thanks for any advice

If the blinking light is the "power" light, it means that the laptop does not have enough power to turn on. This could simply mean that the battery needs to be charged, or that the battery or power supply or AC adapter need to be replaced. Does the same thing happen when the AC adapter is plugged into the wall? If so, try it with the battery removed and the AC adapter connected.

i will try it with the battery removed...the AC adapter is after market and one that comes with multiple pieces and you pick which one fits ur computer. I was thinking it didnt have enough power but couldnt figure out why since the power light on the adapter was on. Thanks i will try that when i get home

The adapter power light just inidcates its receiving power form the wall. Its best if you get a brick thats for that exact unit and not a universal brick. Which aren't really that universal.

ok tried it with and without the battery in... still flashes orange light about 5 or 6 times and nothing else happens...i let it stay on the charger all night and still the same thing happens. When the battery is plugged in without the ac adapter nothing happens but when it is plugged in it just blinks. I will try to find another power adapter..

Is the original power adapter no longer available? If you can, use the adapter that came with the laptop since it is designed specifically to supply the power needs of the laptop.
