This week's ads (for CompUSA and Circuit City, I think) have the Toshiba 1805-S204 for $850-900 (after rebates). It is pretty comparable to this one. The 204 has more RAM (256) and comes with XP Home plus I trust CUSA & CC more than this web store (since I've never heard of them).

I think you also get 3 free DVD's by mail from Toshiba with purchase Link.

CC has 128MB laptop RAM for $5 after rebate this week.

for about $200 more, you'd get 512KB of CACHE, and a dvd/cd-r combo with the toshiba 3000s305...512KB cache makes a WHOLE lot of difference.

SpeedD3mon: What's the final price after rebates of that model? Can I get it at CC or CompUSA?

Hey , even the 2805-s402 has a geforce in it, I agree it doesn't say speedstep so it may be a desktop CPU that will eat up your battery quicker.

you can find the 3005s305 at office depot for 1280+tax if you use the coupon at xpbargains. Then there's $100 MIR from toshiba.
OR. you can get it PM at CC, get their 100 MIR and the toshiba 100MIR....*if you want to read about that, search for that thread on anandtech *

I will can tell you for a fact that no Toshiba laptops have a desktop CPU in them. The closest Toshiba ever came to that was using lower voltage AMD socket 7 CPU's in some of their models from 1.5 to 2 years ago. I don't believe that Intel provides Speedstep in their Celeron CPU's (someone prove me wrong here, I have never looked it up) and a Celeron is what that 1800 uses.
On a side note, the 1800/5 series looks to be a nice solid machine. Feature wise, I would choose the Toshiba 3000/5 series. For something sturdy, I would go for the 1800/5 series or if you can find them the 2800/5 series.

That's because it is an Intel Pentium III. However it is referring to the mobile
version of the PIII chip.
