I was able to get the same laptop at ubid for $812 + shipping - came out to $845. Just remember to be
be persistent at ubid - the best deals are when the auction closes at weird times and less people are
on the net.

In comparison with the Dell, this one is lighter - 4.8 lbs, but a little slower and the screen is smaller.
So, if portability is a top priority, this is a nice laptop. It doesn't have a NIC, but you can get a PCMCIA
card for cheap enough.

All other things being equal, in general, is a PIII 600Mhz faster than a Celeron 800 processor (which is in the $869 Dell Inspiron 4000)?

What PIII would the Celeron 800 be about equal to?

PIII has battery saving speedstep technology, whereas Celeron doesn't has this.
