Mrs. C. is wanting a netbook for her travels. She is far, far from being a techie. Her use will be surfing the 'net, checking emails, messaging and bugging me while she is away from the house. Bottom line: her needs are basic and minimal. Think Facebook, Ebay, and emailing me to tell me to do the laundry.
That said, I have seen some rather good reviews for the Toshiba model above. Anyone with first hand experience want to share their views? It can be had on Amazon for $380, free shipping.
Also, not being a techie myself, I'm wondering if the 1GB of memory it comes with can be upgraded, and if so to how much? And it comes with Windows 7 Starter. I'd rather stick XP on it. Can I format the drive and install a new OS? Thank you.

From what I have read so far it's best you stick to such a Netbook. They are small and good for surfing and checking emails and not so huge as normal laptops. However the screen should be at last 10".

I have a netbook too and when I'm at home I connect it to my 21"-Monitor and you can work as usually with a pc.

Look for XP, don't know, if Windows7 is really slim enough for this kind of computer.

Hope this helps !
