I just checked Amazon.com and the HD-A2 is showing up as $231.63 with Free Super Saver Shipping. That's well below the $250 threshold that most people have cited as the point at which they will buy an HD player.

EDIT: Updated to reflect slight change in price and inclusion of free shipping.

Price depends upon which vendor you select. Best at the moment for cost is Tiger Direct at $199+shipping for about $215 total. Getting to be a pretty nice deal on these. MMMMMMuuuusttt resist. :)

Wow, $200 from tiger direct is pretty good.

40% of the cost of the cheapest blu-ray. Still no 1080p though, and the HD-A20 at $340 is still the cheapest that does that. Unless you count the 360 add-on which, with an HDCP-PC or 360 over VGA, can do 1080p.

It's been updated since I posted this. Now it shows it shipping from Amazon for $231.63 with Free Super Saver Shipping.

And no, I don't see anything that says it's a refurb.

Outstanding!
It's one of the best upscaler out there and I'm speaking IMOE as compared to my old Oppo player.
My biggest chief complaint of the A2 is its extremely SLOW load time.
May be it's because I'm using hdmi-dvi cable since my tv doesn't have hdmi input.
Otherwise it's a great player.
BTW, I paid $199 at Crutchfield in June.

as did i. I don't regret buying this player one bit at all. Its awesome and have already got my money worth with the HD-DVD rentals from netflix. Only bad thing now is that my 50in plasma is having problems and in the shop :(. I will never buy a piece of junk LG again. If your getting a plasma either go with pioneer or panasonic or Fujitsu (if you have the money).
