Toshiba e310 PocketPC 2002 - $236 AR

how does this compare to the E240? I'm a Palm user but am looking for a newer unit with MP3 & color capabilities that has a slim profile.

It's pretty slim, I don't know about the e240, but based on model number I'd guess this is better.

Anyone know where the rebates come from? In addition to that, can people buy up multiple units and get multiple rebates on it as well?

🙂

I just upgrade to this from Ipaq 3650. It's batter last longder also there is a slot to add more memory. The Ipaq is bulky.

dutt... definitely YUM

Hey does anyone know why Toshiba is isssuing rebates on the e310. Are they going to scrap this model and come out with a new one. Therefore they want to get rid of their inventory for the upcomming model. Just wondering...

That could be a possiblilty, or they could be just having a sale. At their site, it gives you the option to get either a media reader or a "PDA accessory package"

no, they still pm online stores, but will count next-day air

Thx!

i work at staples, we pm online stores all the time. standard shipping is what we usually add on.
i actually have an e310, i got it from a hot deal here for $250. it works great. good luck with getting it!

I just tried it at staples, they price matched, but the $50 off coupon is only off $399 or more, which makes it no better than the notebooktrade deal.

They are probably phasing out StrongARM PDA for Xscale ones.

i've actually been trying to get staples.com to pricematch to that price since last thursday, but the cheapest i've gotten them to go to is $333. i'm still trying to get them lower.

Damn, got an e-mail from Staples saying they will be glad to price match as soon as it gets back in stock. It was in stock when i sent the damn e-mail though 🙁 . I want one of these bad.

Actually, I got Staples to pricematch Amazon.com about a week ago for the Toshiba e740, the upgraded version. The retail price was like $599 and amazon had it for $469 (minus their rebate). They factored in next day air shipping for $23 dollars which is absurd bringing the cost down to $482. You can then apply the $40 off $200 and bring it down to $442. Not bad for a PDA retailing $600.

I have the older Audiovox Maestro (a rebadged Toshiba)...e570. Good PDA, I fill the compact flash with mp3s and store all my programs onto the SD card, but only suggestion...make sure you do frequest backups to your SD card. If your PDA ever freezes (esp while playing mp3s) and you need to do a hard reset, you will loose ALL data :disgust: . And store all your programs on the SD card...true, it sucks up more juice, but if you ever haveta do that hard reset like me, you'll be thankful for you will still have all your programs =P

As bolido2000 mentioned, Toshiba is probably ridding themselves of the current 206 Mhz StrongArms and replacing it with the faster 400 Mhz Xscale...(which is even faster than my Linux Box...haha!)

BTW, to current Toshiba owners, did anyone get DivX to play with the PDA? I could only hear the audio, but the PocketDiVX player would only play the first frame and pause.

Got mine, Nice PDA, but one of the main reason I got it was for the MP3 playback, and the e310 is really unstable when playing MP3s and doing other things. I didn't like the number of hard resets I had to do while loading and playing stuff. Also, it wouldn't run 256bit encoded MP3s, and the screen has to be on while listening to music. So I'm selling it and buying a Sony N760C which has a sperate wired remote for MP3 playback, and the PalmOS is suppose to be a little more user friendly too. oh well, it was cool while it lasted.
