Will HD-DVD players be backwards compatable for playing standard DVDs...as well as -RW/-R/+RW/+RW and CD-R/CD-RW?....

I was just getting set to buy an upsampling DVD player with HDMI to run with my new Hitachi 55" plasma...I dont need to have it until sometime in mid may when I move into my new home under construction...
