One reason that deal is only lukewarm is that the DVD is an older version SD-M1212 (6x DVD, 32x CD-ROM). A quick look over on buy.com had the SD-M1402 (12x DVD, 40x CD-ROM) for $118 (wait for coupon if not new user?).

ok,

Im just wondering if anyone really thinks that having a 12x DVD is that much better than having a 4 or 6x.

I have both an 8x and 2x and I cant tell the difference. (excluding the standard cdrom performance.)

and I seriously doubt that a 32x cdrom is too slow for most people.

I'm with trifecta on this. It will only make a difference when there is software available on DVD, although with the size of standard programs nowadays that seems like a ways off.
