Most of my recent hd are Toshibas.
Now out of 22 reviews at the egg only 3 positive.

I have 2 of these exact same drives. I should have tested them right when I got them. In any case 1 works but with that old ibm deathstar click, so I don't use it. The other one has never worked, they keep taking both for RMA but just send me back the same drives every time.

I never bare/oem bought Toshiba drives, but all laptops I used had them, never had any issues until they were more than 5 - 7 years old... All my desktop HDDs are WD, one is Seagate all going good. One Samsung I bought few years back, died within few months
