I am sure everybody is aware of Jesse Matthew the serial killer responsible for the rape and murder of Hannah Graham. At this point it is slam dunk that he will get the death penalty. The question is: would you be OK with the government waterboarding Jesse Matthew to force him to disclose the location of her body? This would not be done to punish Jesse but to provide some closure for her family.

Not all serial killers are from the US, just most of them
I wonder if it's the culture

If he only killed on person, is he a serial killer?

Regardless of semantics, I am fine with waterboarding. Go ahead and "interrogate" him, after he is found guilty, of course.

No.

I'd rather not grant the state the power of personal vendettas on it's citizens

I'm fine with full blown torture of murderers and rapists. No need to get info from them, just plain old torture will be fine.

A round up and interrogation of some P&Ners may be in order also, you know.. Before they do some harm to society

It will be interesting to know exactly what evidence they have on this guy and how they really were able to hone in and identify him.

If she is still alive and that's the only way you can find her before she dies, probably, but for a dead body? No.

Put them in cages with lions and run it on cable TV. Replace some of that money spent on housing criminals.

Ok, change the question up a bit. What if the girl was YOUR daughter? Would you approve torture of the suspect to find her body?

No, how is that different than what he did to my daughter? Do two rights make a wrong? Will knowing he is suffering as much as I did help me get over my loss? I think it will just replace sadness with a mixture of sadness and anger.

The torture would not be to punish but to allow you to find and bury your daughter.

I might be the wrong person to ask, but the way I see it, people arent getting any more dead, and I see no point to burial. My view on marriage is the same, except people WILL slowly start to die with that ;)

The point of his question is to find closure. How do you know she's dead? Maybe he sold her into sex trafficking.

Do you stop searching on his word alone, maybe he's a liar.

It s a cognitive dissonance thing with me. While I philosophically and intellectually oppose torture of any kind by our government, I know for a 100% fact that if my daughter was the victim I would have no problem whatsoever torturing the perp myself to find out where he hid the body. I can't seem to resolve these two opposing views.

This case made me really think about what I do if it was my daughter....
