Torrents: which client?

I did a search for torrents, I got a couple threads but much less than I expected. From what I understand, Azureus and ABC are two of the major torrent clients with visual interfaces. I know there are others, but are they really worth mentioning in comparison to these two clients?

As I'm sure many here use either one of these torrent clients, please offer your comments regarding the overall functionality and your opinion in general about them.

So far, I've noticed Azureus to hog quite a bit of resources. I'm sure all the clients share this to a certain extent, but from your experience has there been a big difference in resource usage from one client to another?

Thanks!

i'd like to know more about bt... where's the faq?

i started downloading with bt 3.4.2 a couple days ago after hearing a story on public radio and learning that a lot of live stuff is legal to download. so far, i think i've uploaded more than i've downloaded and only have one complete show for all that bandwidth.

so what's the best way to do this?

I used Azureus for awhile, but I heard ABC used less resources so i switched to that. After awhile I noticed my CPU usage would permanantly jump to 99% after a random period of time, and the only way to fix it was by restarting ABC. It seems to be a fairly common problem, but with no real fix. I switched back to Azureus

I am a total n00b at BT so I tried ABC and have been able to use it without blowing up my computer, so I would suggest ABC. 🙂

Azareus. I thought it was sucking all my system resources, but it turned out that it was just using all of my UPload bandwidth, making my websurfing slow. I had to throttle it back a bit and it seems fine now.

abc-->azureus because the latter let me limit download speeds. as for resources, i notice my system ran slower when using abc...but that's just me.

I like bitcomet, uses very little resources, written in C++ so it runs native instead of running in a python or java engine.

Yep tried them all and bitcomet is the best.

I use BitTornado, works well.

me too. but sometimes it crashes windows (2kpro for me)... anyone have the same problem?
No, but I run XP.

Crashes my WinXP Pro all the time. I get some "memory could not be read" Blue screen and that's it, it freezes up and I can't do anything else.
