My downloads are typically are episodes that I like to watch on TV that do not seem to have torrents out...honestly, I actually never pirate software anymore, not since high school...easier to just pay for it.

What are you seeding family pictures?

My largest uploads in % are boot CDs, and Linux distros. I haven't pirated a game since the floppy era(Wolf3d, and Doom).

I normally do 1:1. I almost exclusively use torrents for anime. (I have a couple terrabytes archived)

would rather pay for quality software with no viruses
you guys are killing pc gaming

MY foxHD channel comes in with horrible skips. You think I'm gonna watch So You Think You Can Dance? in anything except perfect reproduction? Ish don't think so! Torrent to the rescue, hulu ain't cutting it.

Never gotten a virus via torrent either.

1.5:1

All of the stuff I download is on trackers where ratio has to be maintained at certain level or you get booted off. So, typically 1.5:1 or 2:1

Don't copy that floppy!

Damn I got flashbacks of Babbage's in my head.

I lower the upload speed(because letting it go freely actually doesn't result in higher download speeds...) and then I get out as soon as possible. I have it on automatic stop where if the torrent is done downloading, it'll stop the torrent so I don't seed.

I only do it because I have the 250GB limit from Comcast. I would seed if I didn't have that.

I aim for 1:1, but my ISP throttles my torrent speeds so I can only download/upload at 25kB/s during the day. Also, I can only upload at 70kB/s max.

Well my connection goes to shit if my upload is too high, so about .5:1 is my usual ratio, though I have seeded some rare items, and for the community (well my old community died so I don't do it anymore 🙁 ) up to 50:1

Linux distros, or legally free media? There are legal torrents out there, you know.

This is the correct answer. Not all torrents are bad torrents.

Mee too. I seed lots of rare stuff indefinitely buuuuuut I don't run my machine 24/7 anymore because it just destroys my connection. If someone asks me personally for something and they're in good standing in a given community I'll usually just upload it to my rapidshare folder as a favor.

Yeah, I can understand that. For direct transfers RS/MU/FD can be much better.

I don't really keep track of my ratio but I usually leave it pretty long. My p2p is on a seperate VM and is out of the way. Only thing is if it starts using all my bandwidth then I limit upload and download very low and sometimes I forget to go turn it back up. I usually stop seeding until I go organize downloaded files as moving the files to another location usually breaks it.
