Hey

I've recently downloaded a torrent for Warcraft 3. There are 3 files like: "Warcraft III - The Frozen Throne [Disk 1].iso" all ready to be burnt to disc. The problem is of course that I have a notebook and no way to burn or read disks. I've played around and opened the first CD with winRAR archiver and it installed the game after I clicked the "install" file. Everything looked good and I even had the game icon as a shortcut on my desktop but when I clicked on the icon this message came up: Warcraft III was unable to locate your CD-ROM drive. Please make sure your Warcraft III disk is in your CD-ROM drive, then click on “Retry”.

Have any of you ever encountered this problem before and how did you fix it? I would appreciate any tips.

Thanks

I have a tip, buy the freaking game. It is cheap now.

If by buy you mean downloaded the game illegally, and by friend you mean you, no. Go buy a digital copy, it's like $20. Then you won't have any problems playing it.

That will be a much easier option. I'll buy the digital copy as travelling at the mo and no way to have CD's delivered even if I wanted to go for Amazon option. Thanks for the link and sorry for original question.

with all that energy solving to run a illegally downloaded game, why not use your time to work a couple of hours and buy a retail game to save yourself a headache lols.

I downloaded mine via torrent too so what, it was blizzards torrent though lol. I have the disk still too.

OK apologies. How about this scenario then: My friend legally bought a game which contains three disks...He has a notebook. Any way to play the game?

You'd probably have to work an hour or less to afford WC3 these days.

Except Blizzard's torrents are not distributed as cd images.

You know, notebooks typically have disc drives too. I think you mean "netbook."

Also, what kind of pirate doesn't know how to use an ISO without a physical disc and drive? Even legitimate users have the software and know-how. My Alienware M11x has no disc drive but, ever since my PS3 died, I have been *magically* dumping my Blu-Ray Disc movies to ISO, transfering them over the network, and watching them on my TV with the Alienware M11x and a Windows Media Center remote control.

I'm impressed by most of the contributors in this thread.

Instead of being a dick to him, best to help him away from his pirating ways.

You can buy a disk version and register the key with Blizzard and the download the digital version from them.

On a completely unrelated topic, I happen to be watching At Worlds End right now.
