Strong line of storms barreling through Eastern Ohio, into NW PA and now into SW NY. Recently had a tornado warning in Erie, PA, and heading my way. The line of storms is suddenly bowing outward; I can't remember if that's a good thing, or a bad thing.
Yeah....kind of not fun when they report a tornado that's to the southwest about 13 miles, and it's moving northeast.
What also sucks is that this apartment lacks windows on 2/4 sides, and one of the other sides has only one window. Lots of trees around, too, so any sighting I'd have of a tornado would be either several feet into the neighbor's yard across the street, or as it's passing over the other neighbor's house.
🙁
The warning expired about 45 minutes ago, amidst very low winds, which fortunately
stayed that way - now it's just strong storms and flood warnings, probably for the next day. Yay.
I was listening to NOAA radio
here for awhile during the warning. How up-to-date is the information there? As in, if a tornado touches down a few miles away, does an "oh shit we're gonna die!" voice synthesizer kick in to tell you exactly where imminent doom can be found, and which direction it's moving?
