hello 🙂 i have a thermaltake xaser iii case, and i am going to be ordering a couple of tornado fans one at a time (going back to college makes me lose my job, cant afford to shell alot out at once) and so, i ordered 1 the other day. so my question is, where is the best place to put just one of them for now. ? thanks!
 
In a soundproof box down the street.

Does your case use traditional mounting or fan brackets? Tornadoes are really thick - I don't think they would fit in brackets. If not, I'd suggest replacing the fan on your CPU heatsink or using it as an exhaust.
 
i have no idea, lol. i just made the thing the other day, and id kinda like it to get cooler so i can over clock it a little bit. how can i tell what the brackets are? i can look at them yes, but tradtional? i bought the case in april, its a thermaltake xaser iii thats black. tell me what to look for as far as "tradtional" goes, and ill look
 
also, "in a soundproof box down the street" is it actually THAT loud? lol someone at newegg on the review thing said it sounds like a c-130......
 
Yeah there are case fans in the brackets Ross, let me know how it works out popping them into it. I was actually thinking of doing the same thing.

its about as loud as a c-130 when you are standing on the ground and it flies over your head around 40 stories up. Or, its as loud as a hairdryer on medium or high. I think it is the loudest fan you can possibly get for your computer.
 
cool orbis- check here tomorrow, fedex will have it here tomorrow, and ill be off work around 7, ill post when i get it in and let you know how that goes.
 
i have two tornados, one on superglued to a 80->60mm adapter to a my aeroflow HS and one as an exhaust. the exhaust is a lot louder than the cpu cuz it's touching (vibrating the case). My system temperatures didn't go down that much by having it as an exhaust but my cpu temps go down by 5 C by having it as a cpu cooler. hope that helps.
 
orbis- i had to remove one of the brackets to screw it into the frame on the case. simple process, took 5 minutes total. my only gripe is the cord isnt very long :/ but its an awesome fan, my heatsink reads 28c. last night it was 33. great fan, it is pretty loud though, i dont have it on full unless im doing stuff. i am going to get more of these for sure, i dont mind the sound of it, it just sounds like a computer
 
sigh... newbie overclockers thinking that they are invincible; getting the loudest fan ever for good cooling. I remember when I was like that couple of years ago with my delta fans. Wait a couple months, you'll hate it once you can't hear it, or anything else for that matter =P
