I also believe TL2 is released way too late, gonna play D3 instead and wait for TL2 to be $10.

The above points make good sence if you're gonna buy D3 on the 15th.

If, like myself you don't plan to, TL2 is making a lot of sence.

Well writting this and I find myself thinking about buying D3 anyways lol...

Diablo III is too close for me, $60 on release, no way I'll buy another game anytime soon, even if TL2 might be interesting. I tried D3's open beta and there's no looking back, it's what I wanted. TL1 was good and remained so for a some time, but if it had a multi-player mode it would have been more popular and TL2 itself might not have been created to start with. The lack of a multi-player mode in such games nowadays is very risky, in my opinion.

So TL2 will have multi-player, but it's perhaps too late. I hope for those who buy it for multi-player will not find themselves playing a deserted MP mode for too long and put their copy to rest after one or two months. I wish the best for the devs, they do deserve it, but you can't compete with something like DIII, sorry (not saying TL2 won't be "good", just saying business-wise, as far as financial competition is concerned, you just can't).

dunno, the D3 beta got some pretty poor reviews on here at least.

I think they're going to pick up the tons of disappointed people in D3. I'm one of them. I loved the first Torchlight but have deeper roots with the Diablo series. After playing the beta though I'm really not impressed. Diablo III is to me simply poorly done. So I need my fix and there's Torchlight 2! So I'll pick it up and play it on a LAN. Something you can't do with D3.

I don't think i will buy D3 either. I only enjoyed playing 1 class. Not sure it's worth it for that.

It didn't occur to me to buy D3 until after I played the open beta. I was still concerned about the rather high price tag, but playing the beta got me thinking.

So now T2 will come out as a game that's similar to D3, with co-op, with only 25% of the price (with group buy), a sequel to the game I liked a lot. Just in the past hour or so I seemed to have already convinced two of my friends to get this one instead of D3 to play co-op with. This is looking really good.

My thoughts exactly after watching the Torchlight 2 vid on Steam. It looks alot more like Diablo then the first one did, and if they make it really fun, the surprise of the year may come in Torchlight being considered the better game.

I liked the D3 beta, and will buy it, but the *apparent* lack of customization, which may be nothing since it was but a taste of the early game, has me worried. The reason I spent hundreds of hours in D2 was because of making new characters; multiple Sorcs to try different things and so-on. Levelling wasn't an issue when you could easily go from 1-80 in a nights play.

Pre-order but STILL no release date? Come on...

Hasn't Duke Nukem Forever taught us anything? Never preorder. Steam is not going to run out of copies to sell.

I wonder if the game is actually ready, or if Runic is just running out of money?

more about supporting the devs. If i know its a game i like and will eventually buy, then why not?

I buy a lot of games on sale that im on the fence about, but if its a game that i really liked, and am 100% going to buy it, im more than willing to give the dev full price.

Im unfamiliar with duke nukem forever's issue with preorders (i know it was delayed forever), but im 100% sure that youll be happy with your purchase once you get the game. If the game never comes out, steam would probably give you a refund. And I saw on steams website that it said july (seventh maybe?).

Nice. After playing the Diablo III beta this past weekend I'm going to go and pre-order Torchlight 2 instead. :)
I'll check out reviews before buying, but I'm much more apt to be buying TL2 vs. D3.

Torchlight 1 was mediocre, so I don't have high hopes for Torchlight 2. Also since D3 comes out right before it...

I'll pick up torchlight 2 for $5 on steam in a year or so.

Huzzah. Can't wait. Instant pre-order. Only a year after it was supposed to be released haha. This and Borderlands 2 are pretty much all I care about in the world of video games this year.

Torchlight was okay especially given the price but I got bored without after a while. With D1 & D2 I played them all the way through more than once back in the day. From what I have seen of T2 it is just more of the same of T1 but with extra zones. That is not necessarily a bad thing but I think I see myself getting bored with it like I did with T1.

Pre-ordered as soon as I could like I did with Torchlight.

Fun game and the second will be even better, especially as I have someone who has pre-ordered and going to play along with me.

I just don't like the idea of a pre-order without a release date. Passing on this until I see a release date. I liked the first though Torchlight.
