Topix forums are dead?

Whoa. Is this for real?

My little home town, like most, I suppose, had a topix forum. Where all the little gossip could be found and all the nasty little back-biting biddies would post anonymously. Never required a login, you could be two or three or a dozen different posters in the same conversation. A total cesspool, if ever there was one. Seldom moderated, but when it was, entire 300 post threads would be deleted in a second.

I figured it must have been a gold mine for someone.

Haha sounds like some quality entertainment. Never heard of Topix, though. I'm not sure if my hometown would be in there, it's a 12,000 population town in the Upper Peninsula of MI (God's country).

I need to check out this Topix thing, and Craigslist Local too.

Well it looks like yes they did close the forums. But are keeping some crappy entertainment site instead? I dunno.

For over a decade Topix has proudly served up your town's latest news and hottest takes. In that time a lot has changed. We have grown to be one of the internet's largest entertainment sources.

As Topix grew, news and discussion became less of what we are all about. Today we have decided to break away from what we were and fully embrace the "Pretty Good" entertainment company you have all come to love.

However I was redirected to the Patch site, for a local city that I originally clicked the Topix Forum for: Livonia on Patch. And Patch don't have my hometown; it defaults to Green Bay, WI instead lol. Not surprising.
