So during my ATOT sabbatical this spring, they upgraded to a new version of the forum software here. This new version included a star-based "topic rating".
Now, I'm curious about 2 things.
1) What actually causes you to rate a topic? I see many innocent threads that are in no way insulting, controversial, or bad in any way, that have multiple "terrible" ratings. Why? If you aren't interested in the topic, or disagree with what the OP says in any way, do you get some sort of satisfaction out of rating the topic "terrible"?
2) Why do topic posters care about their thread rating? I mean really? Almost every thread that gets rated, is 2 stars or below, generally for no reason, yet I still see people (not just n00bs either, established forum members who have been here as long or longer than me), complaining about their rating. Who really cares?
Carry on.
