I haven't seen any collation between the number of stars and the quality of the thread. I just assumed it was based on how well the OP was liked.

Topic Ratings should be used to indicate the repost factor. A rating of 5 indicates it is not a repost in any way whatsoever. This thread would get a 0. Which is coincidentally what I will rate this thread.

But what's bad is it would appear the ratings are sorting the search results which really defeats the purpose of searching to find things quickly. It's like having your windows explorer list arranged randomly and the ability to sort is locked. :roll:

Naw, people have different reasons for voting. For example, some threads are so incredibly lame, cryptic, or offensive, that people 5-star them just to be funny. Other threads are just epic, like the bulk beef thread.
