I don't know where your evidence is from Bobby but Japanese are descended from Mongolians. Japanese syntax and numbering system are surprisingly similar to Mongolian. However, the Japanese also have racial intermixing with the Ainu who are a unique ethnicity located in Northern Japan. The Samurai class are thought to be descendants from the Ainu.

I am not as familiar with Korean history but I am not sure if they are considered Mongolian. I recall looking at an ethnicity poster in my University's foreign language department and remember seeing that Korea had it's own unique ethnicity while China and Japan had similar ones. But that was just a poster. Not something I'd take as 100% fact.

What I want to know is why Japanese women are so ugly (on average) while Korean women are so hot?

BTW: My wife is Korean.

BOBBY RIBS, that sounds kinda far-fetched (compared to what I know from history and legends/myths). I'm not familiar with Korean history, do you know of sources of information where that segment of asian history can be looked up?

<<Very interesting.. Is there any official studying about this? The origin of language similiarities between Kor, Japs, and Chinks>>

I learned in my introductory etymology course that the Korean and Japanese languages are linked by some scholars in the same language family. Also, many scholars link Korean and Japanese with the Altaic language family (Turkic, Mongolian, Manchu). There are theories that this is due to common ancestry or widespread borrowing. However, the Altaic languages have fewer vocabulary similarities than other language families, I think.

A difficulty arises in linking Korean and Japanese languages based on vocabulary. Both languages borrow heavily from Chinese. I read one estimate that 50% of the Korean language has words of Chinese origin. After all, the Chinese were basically "big brother" to the Koreans and Japanese. Words like promise (yak sok) are derived from Chinese and common to both. I think this is the same case for the word "upperclassman": sunbae (Korean) and sempai (Japanese).

Linking the Korean and Japanese people genetically, may be easier than linking the language families. I read somewhere that Koreans, Japanese, Manchu were of Mongolian origin, but that is still debatable. However, a significant amount of intermarriage occured between Korea and Japan. I think especially during the three kingdoms period (silla, paekchae, koguryo). And I would think that the proto-Japanese would have had to cross over Korea to get to Japan and that would also lead to mixing.

It's so sad that both the Koreans and Japanese dislike each other and see the other as savages while they themselves are pure-blooded. But there are no pure-blooded Koreans or Japanese. Both groups probably arose from a mixing of different groups, including caucasions.

Nice post CJZ.

You forgot to mention Chusha and Chucha in Japanese and Korean. Doh! Forgot. There were no cars back then.
