F*twallet has recently introduced into Beta a new feature that I have been wanting to see for a long time.... It allows you to setup alerts that will automatically send you an email when a new thread is created with keywords you choose in the forums you choose.

Will we ever see this here?

Here's a link to their page about it.

Pretty cool feature. Your best bet is probably to contact FuseTalk directly since AT only runs stock FT code.

Bingbong, i believe that those numbers on fatwallets are quite exagerated, most of those users are probably non existant.... I'm quite certain they are less than half the traffic of anandtech forums at least... All I'm saying is that it's a lot of email traffic and load to constantly be checking when you post if in a database of 30,000 alerts this post matches it. Think about it...

I've been doing this stuff for about 12 years now and have seen all kinds of "neat" features. Sometimes these "neat" ideas cause issues that you may or may not think about. It's a neat idea, but would have to be throughly investigated and load tested before it was even considered in FuseTalk.

BTW, just for reference we have about 4000 users on during busy times, by my count thats twice the load :)

Personally, I find that site horrible to navigate or use, I honestly don't know how anyone can find anything. It isn't really a forum anymore its just forsale links.

Just my opinion.

Ah yeah, I don't doubt that it would be intensive.

How come it doesn't show the number of anonymous people here at AT? That would be interesting to see.

Yep, user count is not any way to measure a forum. Traffic, and maybe to some extent post count (although fatwallets would be largely inaccurate due to posts being deals etc).

We did have guest tracking on awhile ago, we may put it on again soon.

Cheers
