1. DEMS: I BLAME BUSH
Did Obama get us into two wars with no exit strategy? No.
As for the banking crisis, well, he did inherit it. Not that it's Bush's fault -- the Democrats wouldn't have seen it coming in time to regulate it, either.
2. DEMS: VOTERS ARE DUMB
They are. The Nascar Nation to the extreme, but that ain't saying the rest are Einsteins.
A politician can't get elected on a stance that he is technically proficient. The populace demands that he play to their baser emotions.
They don't want answers, they want to be fellated. Real answers mean dealing with reality's cold, hard truths -- that life is not a fairy tale, and to get anything there's always a trade-off. People are spoiled, and they don't want to hear this. They think that closing their eyes and ears to this and listening to the more pleasant sound of someone telling them that they can have everything at no cost to them if only they'll vote for them will magically make it all work out.

4. DEMS: VOTER APATHY
That's what you get when there's no solution but things working themselves out naturally, which is where the economy is. A solid recovery has been contingent on the appearance of a recovery (loosening one's wallet is an act of confidence), but the government's actions to fake out the people by dumping some money into the economy and making a big deal over it didn't work, and they can't afford to keep doing that to infinity. (It's all debt we have to pay back.)
Dems can't run on a platform that they'll fix everything through governent action because their base is generally smart enough to know that it's out of the government's hands.
Republicans, on the other hand, will probably be voting in record numbers.
"I reck'n things ain't right. I know! Guberment!"

6. DEMS: REPUBLICANS ARE OBSTRUCTIONISTS
Fox News: "Obama. Obama. Obama. Pelosi. Pelosi. Reed. Obama. Obama. Obama. Pelosi. Pelosi. Reed. Obama. Obama. Obama. Pelosi. Pelosi. Reed. Obama. Obama. Obama. Pelosi. Pelosi. Reed. Obama. Obama. Obama. Pelosi. Pelosi. Reed. Obama. Obama. Obama. Pelosi. Pelosi. Reed."
How much of that is positive? How much is even just the boring facts?
For a planet with 6.7 billion people on it over a land area of 57,000,000 square miles with over 300 cities of over a million population across nearly 200 countries, Fox "News" seems to spend a lot of time doing nothing but bashing three people.
And the Republicans have... not embraced this and instead have shown a great sense of bipartisanship and patriotism by working hand in hand with the Democratic majority to do the work of the People??
You try saying that with a straight face.
7. DEMS: “DESTRUCTIVE” MEDIA PROMOTING THEIR POINT OF VIEW
News is objective fact, not subjective commentary. Fox News is nothing but purely one-sided commentary, but because they're balls-to-the-wall about it and not apologetic in the least, it doesn't raise any red flags amongst the stupid emotional processors of the Nascar Nation, and so it gets passed off as fact.
