None, really. None of those will do anything that you wouldn't already be able to do; they are just easier because they don't require any knowledge or effort to use and the process is automated. However, this also increases the chances of screwing something up. Besides, most of the time there is no need to mess with your registry and you don't need third party software to delete temporary files. Furthermore, those programs won't do the things that actually may improve performance, such as tweaking your startup programs/services and uninstalling unneeded applications.

Most of the time a slow system is due to either malware or just a ton of useless crap that's consuming system resources - these effects will be more pronounced on a low performance machine. That's why people so often notice a large performance boost (in reality just getting back previous levels of performance) after wiping everything and re-installing the OS.

A Windows ISO, so that you can do a fresh install to any big vendor PC, in which the crapware never gets on there in the first place.

CCleaner is useful, but not installing crapware, not cheaping out on RAM, getting a speedy main storage device (if not SSD, a 7200 RPM drive with the biggest platters available), are the main things to do. Also, disable things that eat up CPU and IO time that you don't make use of (FI, have Windows only index the start menu).

I use CCleaner, but only to delete internet history, temp files, etc., not for performance. Other than that just msconfig to get rid of startup items I don't need.

Set your browser to delete the history every time you close the browser.

Quit downloading free programs with their free Spyware and virus's.

Might try AVG antivirus and Spyware search and destroy. I like how AVG usually tells you it is dangerous to click on certain links.

Since Windows 7, I never find any need to use any of these 'performance-enhancing programs'. If anything, keeping the installation base minimal, with reasonably good anti-malware and up-to-date drivers, do the trick for me.

An SSD immensely helps too. ;)

This. There is no magic program that will make your computer faster. The best software can do is make it "not slow".

Start --> Run --> MSConfig --> Turn off startup crap you don't need.
Outdated from the time that many crapware install themselves also as Windows Services.

The less Software you install to increase performance, the better your performance will be. Period. There are just a few pieces of Software that have an specific purpose that do increase performance, the others are mostly automatic applications that can do the same thing you usually could by hand (But without the same degree of control).
Everything else degrades performance. Unless people thing that having more loaded applications would magically increase performance, when they at the bare least consumes RAM, if not CPU time too.
