I watched the 1st episode of Top Shot today. Its a reality TV show where they try to find the best marksman. They use multiple different weapons.

I normally hate reality shows but this might be ok since it's dealing with firearms, although I'm already cringing at a few things.

They pronounce the Mosin Nagant as Mow-Zin Nuh-Gaunt when the real pronunciation is Mow-Seen Nuh-Gan (the T is silent).

Apparently they use some sort of explosive targets so even if they hit the target, if they don't hit the part with the explosive, they have to keep shooting.

During the first challenge I'm like wtf as they just keep missing and missing. I thought these guys were marksmen? These are 50 and 100 yard targets!

Guess we'll see how the rest goes.

They have to hit the orange circle, where the explosive is. The entire canvas isn't the target, just the circle.

Overall, I liked the first episode. I was hoping they could refrain from creating "alliances" and bullshit like that, but there's already been some hint of it.

They seem to be, though obviously the one guy royally fucked up...and was eliminated for it. The younger guy schooled his ass on the elimination challenge.

I'm not a gun person but I also watched the first episode. Though it looked pretty difficult for me, I have no experience. That guy should have been able to hit the target at some point.

The question for me really is even this episode they had to really drag out a few scenes to make time. What happens when they get down to like 2-3 people and half the episode is Colby Donaldson rambling on about crap.

I'm actually still watching the 1st episode and it wasn't quite clear at first. i see that now they just have to hit the orange part, which doesn't really mean jack shit in a marksman viewpoint.

I'm disappointed with the drama created already.

I thought this was a thread about a new attempt at sealing up the oil well in the Gulf, ala Junk Shot and Top Kill rolled into one.

First episode was pretty good. Let's see how well they do this week with pistols.
