I have an internal dell truemobile 1300 b/g card that sucks a whole lot and refuses to connect to my AP. (connected, excellent signal strength, IP address assigned - no access to the network or internet)

So, I brought out my old dell truemobile 1150 pcmcia card which now appears to have crapped out.

So, I need a new card, and I dont want to f--- around anymore... any suggestions?

Orinoco Gold cards are considered the best for range and wardriving, they also have a plug for an antenna, but you usually have to get the antenna seperate. I saw someone in the FS/FT forums had a few of the gold cards for sale the other day.

the AP is an SMC 7004AWBR, which unfortunately doesnt have interchangeable antennas...

The Orinoco Gold works very well with the Old Good SMC.

It really sounds as though your current Truemobile card is okay, hardware-wise. I realize that the hardware will only work as well as the drivers and client software will let it, but I'd hate to see you buy a new card and wind up with the same problem. You say it's showing excellent signal strength. Understanding that the signal strength thing may be the device driver / software lying to you, it still sounds as though the hardware is just fine. Are you sure there isn't something that could be done configuration-wise?

Oh, and I have had very good experiences with Orinoco Gold, too, but their support and Web site are truly awful. Or at least they were the last time I looked.
