This is $200 once again- $250, on sale with instant discount and $50 off $250 purchase coupon at your favorite hot deal site. Add pens or paperclips or whatever to get over the $250 mark.

I just ordered one, $217 delivered with California tax.

uhhh, that's part of the "whatever" part my friend. Do "whatever" to get it over $250. The point was that the deal is now once again active, capiche?

<< Ok, I'll bite.. why is this printer so good? >>

You have to own a Brother laser printer to know why they're so damn good.

1) Best bang for your buck, Samsung, Lexmark and esp HP cannot touch the Brother.
2) USB / parallel
3) Great driver support for almost all Windows OS's and Mac.
4) Fast.
5) Small footprint, not a huge ass laser printer.
6) Just an overall great laser printer which no other competitor can touch esp in this price range.

If you don't believe me or the other ATers read the reviews you'll find online and in computer magazines they'll back me up 110%.

*With* instant rebate, $250. Where's the 50 off 250 - you don't mean a first order do you, already did that, been there. Plan B?

i have the brother hl-1250 .. which seems to be the model before this one. I have LOVED it... it is lightning fast, works great with every OS I've tried (98,Me,2000,XP). The print quality is excellent, and the toner cartridges are seperate from the drums, so you you can just replace toner cartridges if drum is ok. The cost to print on this printer was cheaper than any other brand when I looked before. You can't touch the features and quality of the printer .. esp. for the price.

I can't find the Office Max $50.00 off coupon. Anyone care to PM me with details?

I'd appreciate it.

Thanks

Well the price is now showing up at $299.98 for me as well, not sure what's going on. Hopefully it's a glitch of some type..

I just tried the $50 off coupon and it says that it's ended.

Also added the printer to my Omax cart and it shows $299.

I'm guessing this deal is dead.

Do you guys know exactly what memory this will take? docinthebox posted in another thread that a 72 simm module would do it but he wasn't sure about the height of it.

Has anyone upgraded this printer yet and knows for sure what memory to use? I got the printer on my shopping cart and this is the last thing I need to know.

Thanks

This memory from Crucial will definitely work. In fact, the 32MB module listed there is what I'm using in my HL-1440 right now. It might not be the cheapest you can find. The post you referred to was a 32MB module I saw in Fry's ad couple of weeks ago that's much cheaper.

The memory listed in Crucial's is FPM (Fast Page Mode) non-parity. I've been wondering if EDO would work as well, since it's 72-pin SIMM also. If anyone knows, please post. Thanks.

Thanks doc. I have a couple 32MB of FPM on my half-dead 486. I'm sure it won't miss it.

But if the memory that you're using is FPM then the EDO won't work. At least that's true for motherboards and I don't see why it would be different for printers.

Thanks for the quick response.
