Just got myself the top of the line Falcon Mach V. You can't buy a faster system yet. (maybe a dual processor) I also got all the best pc games out there Return to Castle Wolfenstein (PC) , Aliens vs. Predator 2, and some classics like quake 3, unreal 2, and a bunch others that I had. I must have spent over $4200.00 bucks. I also spent $600. on the X-box with 6 games. Guess what, I set the pc games at the highest graphics settings possible. They still don't even touch the graphic level of the X-box. If I could do it all over again I would have spent my hard earned money just on the X-box & the biggest HDTV you can get.
Although I do rule a little better In Counter Strike. But not enough to warrant the $4200. Sorry Falcon its not your fault its the software companies.
To all the soft ware companies please step up your programs for the pc's. Just thought the the serious gamers thinking of up grading might like to hear my ranting before spending the kids collage fund just to rule in CS. I still suck at CS.

On another note to everyone cheating in Counter Strike FU all!!!
You should have your half life license pulled and removed from the servers immeadietlly you know who you are. Wall hacking F#%$#N B@$TARDS. Real easy to rule a map when you cheat. Sierra please pull there cd codes. Its like pulling the gays out of the military or boy scouts.

Now I feel better.

Good day.

I spent a couple hundred to upgrade a several year-old PC, and I'm very happy. It's my primary source of entertainment and a huge part of my life (email, IMs, web browsing, classes, games, music, movies, ...). Plus, I can customize and upgrade again later. I'm not sure why you spent over four grand to get a top of the line PC, either; my new parts (everything but a HDD, monitor, and the basics (cables)) were barely over $400.

I guess anyone that would buy a $4000 namebrand computer is bound to have some pretty lame ideas...Man, oh man, think of the computer you could have built for half the price.

problem with pc: everyone has different configurations, so your game has to be opitimized for everyone's hardware/software settings.
benefit of console: 1 standard, so you can tweak the hell out of a game just for that 1 configuration, and not have to worry about someone running a slower cpu or lesser gpu.

The problem isn't the computer...the problem is that you threw $4000 into a computer (lets say $200 were spent on games) that is only marginally faster than something you could have paid half the price for.

What kind of moron spends $4200.00 to play stupid Kiddie Games??

Ha, Xbox. So you spend $500 on an Xbox bundle and get a couple games. You need a computer to play online now, or pay $10 a month next year when Microsoft finally has legal online. Or get a PC and play hot games online now.

dwell,

Upgrade your pc every 5 months, spending tons of money. Or just spend 300 dollars on an XBOX that won't be obsolete for another 3-4 years. Or spend tons and tons of money on a computer that will begin to become obsolete in 6 months.

Sooner or later, PC games will be integrated into consoles.

Simple fact; Console gaming is way, way more profitable then PC gaming.

Well you have to pay for the best. I have a PS2 and it's great for gaming but I still prefer PC overall. $1000 spent every year will keep a computer easily within the ability to play all the new games throughout the coming year. It is pricier, but many of us need a fast PC for other stuff anyway!

Who says that you need to upgrade every 5 months? That's bull!!! I've had my computer for over a year and I haven't upgraded yet, and can still play today's computer games at a nice resolution. Also who says that the Xbox won't fail at the console game? They haven't proven anything yet. Only the hardcore crowd (PC Users) have embraced the Xbox. The big test will be next year. If Microsoft hasen't sold enough Xbox's by next year, then we will see all the support for the Xbox go out the window. So you just wasted 300+ dollars on the Xbox.

Man how ignorant can you be? Yes, certain console games sell a ton of games. But for every Halo, MGS2 and RE there are games like Summoner and many other console titles that don't sell to well.

fact: To produce a game on a console you need Sony's, Nintendo's or Microsoft's approval!!! Also, the publisher(of game) needs to pay a fee to have there game distributed on that console.

fact: To produce a game on the PC there are no fee's at all!

fact: PC games don't have to sell as many copies as console games do. If a PC game sells 250,000 copies than that is considered a hit. If a console game sells 250,000 copies then it's considered a dud!

Well I don't have time to build my own system. To many things to do with my kids then lock myself in a room to build my system plus no guaranties, warranties and no support. Which I need. (My kids are to young to help just yet.) I might know know to make a good living not a good tech. Yes I am alittle embarrassed spending so much I did get a kick @$$ system though. I will although probably build my next PC. :D This is my motel in Wildwood NJ: The Erin Shores (Yes I know the web site sucks) working on it. Any suggestions Welcome.:eek:The Erin Shores Motel

BTW, that is *not* the top of the line PC, and you got ripped off if you paid $4200.

Shazbot's post explains why you can't expect PC gaming to be equivalent to console gaming. But who the hell buys a PC just to play games? It has more practical purposes.

PC Games arn't built around graphics but modularity. They have incredibly lifetimes, games like Quake1 have been around for 6 years now. Mods also allow people to get experience in the field. I wouldn't be suprised if some of the people who work at Bungie got jobs based on what they did in 3rd party groups making mods.

Also.. Only suckers upgrade computers every 5 months or spend 4200 on a single computer. But you sound rich so I don't see why you are complaining. When you play Cstrike 7 days a week then you can tell me computer games are dying out and not worth it.

PC Gaming will never merge into consoles either. There is a market for games on the PC, Verant has proven this. Games on the PC arn't EVER going anywhere.
