Top House Democrat calls for Rumsfeld resignation

It is always a stupid idead to fire the guy at "The Top". It's not like Rumsfeld knew the prisoners were being abused while it was going on. Yes he may have found out AFTER the abuse took place but he wasn't condoning it.

It's simple really. Court Martial anybody involved in these cases - even the idiot who stated that "My superiors knew what I was doing the whole time." Using that logic - My superiors knew I was raping every female in the platoon so that made it okay. That's obviously stupid. Court Martial them and be done with it.

Instead the press will place every picture they can find and complain about the attrocity and how it's somehow George Bush and his administrations fault that this took place. Meanwhile they'll ignore the fact that even the worst case of 'torture' that took place by stupid US Soldiers was a walk in the park compared to what was happening there just over a year ago with Saddam's thugs running the prison.

Funny how they like to talk endlessly about this but have almost ignored the fact that a woman and her four children were brutally shot to death by Muslim Extreamist gunmen in Isreal. Who should get fired for that I wonder?

If I had read correctly, all this happened 6+ months ago and Rumsfeld knew about it but never told Bush about it in any detail. Correct me if I'm wrong

We have people arguing that the soldiers shouldn't be held responsible if they're just following orders... and that people higher up shouldn't be held responsible because they're not personally doing these things. Apparently, the Nuremberg trials have taught us nothing.

All that said, no one is claiming that Rumsfeld should resign because he's to blame for what the soldiers did. Rather, it's an issue of why Congress and the President should have learned of the matter by watching (or hearing about) an episode of 60 Minutes II.
