Why?

I guess it's official...hollywood can't come up with a single original idea...so it's time to start remaking everything...Hell, let's find some comedians and start remaking the "Road" films...

(Bing Crosby and Bob Hope would roll over in their graves) :p

Exactly what I was thinking.

Thanks for listing sooo many examples of all those original works!

I don't need to list all the great movies of recent times to appease to negative nancies among us. There's no pleasing some people - for some reason idiots like BoomerD refuse to accept that anything from the last 20 years can be good. It's a classic example of looking at the past through rose tinted glasses.

For the record, two of my favourite movies are recent films - Inception and The Departed.

I'll give you Inception (which I loved), but The Departed (which I also loved) was a remake of Infernal Affairs, right?

"Inception" is over-rated IMO (and I'm a huge Nolan fan). "The Departed" was a remake.

The only recent (last year and a half) movie I liked was Moon...and even that movie had stuff knocked-off from other movies (Gerty = HAL9000 [deceptively], intro seems to borrow from WALL-E).

Except for all the really good original films that have come out recently. But yeah, other than them

There are many good, recent films, I think Boomer is referring to is the fact that almost EVERY TV series or movie from the 60-70's seems to get redone, often with disastrous results..

Name some more originals, please. I can think of a few good ones (not saying).

I think it's probably not an exaggeration to say that 90% of live-action theatrical movies in the last 4 years have been adaptations, remakes, sequels, and reactionary knock-offs.

Yea right they'll use real planes. You think they could get their hands on real F-35's???

Of course they will. A big box office film that features fantastic videography of some awesome planes is the best way to drum up taxpayer support for a ridiculously expensive and unnecessary program!

Do you know the definition of exaggeration?

Never been a huge fan of the original film, so I don't care much anyway.

For people that say no good or original ideas are made into films these days just do not watch enough films.

If people didn't go see remakes, then hollywood wouldn't make any remakes. It's really that simple. If the new Karate Kid didn't do so well, they wouldn't be in development on the new sequel right now. But it did, and they are. We only have ourselves to blame.

We don't have ourselves to blame. I blame everyone else.
