Top Gear's trip across Botswana

Man, makes me want to do it in my brother's old Ford Fairmont. God we couldn't kill that thing. Maybe Botswana could.

if you watched the most recent season, Hammond has Oliver shipped to him in the UK (and presumably at least partially restored).

The beetle wins, hands down, though I'd probably have bought the merc just for the reliability. I'm very surprised that the Lancia made it, but of course top gear does stage these kind of events.
 
Why was the Beetle supposed to be a "punishment"? It's a shockingly good car off-road, all things considered.

Me, I would have bought a 2CV. It's amazing where those things can go.
