You could hold out for the EVO MR:

that's bad ass. It's a good idea for them to put lighter wheels on the car, AWD is quite lossy so reduced rotational mass will help offset the extra drivetrain loss. Plus with all 4 wheels being turned, reduced wheel weight should help even more than on 2wd cars.

On those evos if you delete the wing, get a more subdued color and shave the badges, you'd have such a sleeper. I guess this weekend I will stop by a mitsu dealer and see how much an RS + urban jungle package is.

See if you they'll let you test drive one, or take you for a test drive with them driving. I lucked out last time and the guy let me take it out onto the freeway.

The acceleration is awesome, and no matter how sharply or abruptly you turn, it goes right where you want it. It's freaking ridiculous.

Well, there's not doubt even the underpowered US Evo is faster around a track than the beefy STi. On a 40 second autoX course with a few national level drivers, the Evo8 was stock for stock beating the STi by a noticeable margin.

Evo ran 37.49... STi clicked in at 38.20... that's a pretty big margin in autoX. Yeah, the Euro and JDM Evos have ACDs and SuperAYC... US versions have neither yet even Rod Millen and his son Rhys both agree the Evo is sharper, more precise and easier to drive fast than the STi. But you can't deny that the STi is faster in a straight line... until you slap a boost controller on the Evo.

You can get more than 19psi, but at that point, you're starting to get more heat than usable air. You may as well start going bigger at that point.
