After their last experience down south (in Alabama I think), they're bound to be extra careful with their shenanigans when they're on this side of the pond.

I think it depends if they're making fun of national stereotypes or specific cars.

Like I've heard Clarkson describe France as the best country in the world in his newspaper column and at the same time they will describe all French people as lazy workshy socialists. But I've never heard him say anything good about a Porsche 911.

Yeah I spose so, but that alabama episode was one of my favourites, they've never been careful before! Fuck em' that's the point of top gear, do it and to hell with the consequences who cares what people think

That's generally because clarkson's opinion and that of the writers differ some times, either way clarkson and the writers like to take the piss out of NASCAR....

"by far" is a stretch, especially when you don't include the destruction of the Toyota pick-up and the Reliant robin space shuttle

I just watched the Germany vs Great Britain challenge today and their entrance in WWII era fighters was epic as was the little WWII references throughout like May dropping gravel on the track through his pants legs.
 
Ehh. Didn't find this episode particularly funny. The Christmas gift part wasn't funny at all. Kind of interesting though, if you watch the end credits, 5th Gear host, Tiff Needell, was credited as the "emergency Stig."
 
They did mention using Tiff Needell instead of the stig in the interview with Danny Boyle. Tiff used to present the old version of Top Gear in the 90s in case you didn't know.
 
Still funny though since all Clarkson did was goof on Needell on air. And even more ironic since Ben Collins is on 5th Gear now.
 
I skipped over the interview portion of the show. Tiff has also appeared in some of Clarkson's videos. He was on an early version of Top Gear, but that was like 10 years ago. Seems odd, that of all the people they could choose for this special, it was him.

I didn't mention those, because I usually enjoy the humorous outings more so than the... not even sure what you'd call it... scientific (?) ones. Although, I think I might've forgotten the Vietnam special, as that was a good one.

This.

The Christmas gift parts have been painful for a while, they feel so contrived and forced. The only funny part was that energy drink.

The rest wasn't even very interesting. Not horrible by any means, but nowhere close to any of their other long challenges. It would have been better if Hammond had been in a new Turbos S.

It was mostly a dud though. Skipping the rest of the road they allegedly came over here for, their pointless bit about Washington. I was even disappointed about how they presented the cars, they really didn't do much to build them up or anything, considering how much everyone (including them) were fawning over the 458 and SLS.

I do think its hilarious that for all their trashing of America you can clearly tell how much they love coming over here.

That isn't for Nascar, that is for Lorry(SP?!) drivers and the odd camaro driver, as well.
 
Just watched todays Top Gear (UK) episode. Was kinda ok all through the episode. But the very very end - bwahahaha..... 😀 😀
