and the original top gear was also terrible its first few seasons according to most people.
TG USA got better towards the end of season 1. haven't watched anything past that though (i don't watch a whole lot of tv anymore)
The thing is though... Top Gear UK got better with each season, but I think Top Gear US actually got worse in season 2. The episodes just seemed to get hacked together. Although, the differences between season 1 and season 2 show that they may be trying new things, which isn't necessarily bad. As long as they realize what works and what doesn't!
When they brought in James May during season 2 (supposedly he didn't come in at first because he thought it wouldn't work), things practically just took off. Jason Dawes used cars segments were practical, but maybe not as interesting. He did have a Skyline GT-R R32 on one of them, which made me happy.
