I am one of those that think the stig is tiff.

No way of finding out I guess.

He does have an F1 history - plus the driving style of the stig is similar to Tiff. Note - tiff drives totally different when he is showing off his drifting skills than when he is putting in a power lap.

well Tiff is on the competiing show so I doubt it's him.

I was thinking maybe it's Damon Hill or Nigel Mansell.

And we don't really know if it was Stig driving it just cause he had a white helmet. It could have been a Renault test driver driving the thing and they just said it was the Stig.

Eihter that or Top Gear paid an ass-load of money to let someone drive that.

But it was such a great episode. THe WRC Evo vs the Bobsled, the EVO vs the Quattro, the GT40 vs the Noble....excellent races. And the 612 challenge was great too. THeir cinamatography is stunning.

tiff has driven F1 before.. and as for teh Stig, its always been a racing driver.. so its quite possible stig had driven F1 at some point as a test car driver..

F1 teams usually dont let non F1 drivers try their car out.

Actually F1 teams will let anyone drive their cars provided they pony up the cash. If you had well over a $1M dollars to blow, I'm sure some of the lower-order teams will let you drive their car.

But I still think that a Renault Test Driver drove the F1 car on the track in Top Gear. You can't tell who is behind the helmet anyway.

Either way, it was an excellent segment to see that Renault ripping it up.
