I do not like to play the fantasy game stuff. We have actual results from real matches, I prefer to base analysis on those. Otherwise shit gets weird but fast ime.

True but Noguiera in his prime was one of the most durable fighters in MMA. He might outlast Fedor and lock on a submission after Fedor was exhausted. Fedor also has infamously weak skin that was cut many times and which even stopped the 2nd Fedor vs Noguiera fight and led to a no contest.

Then Royce Gracie and Judo Gene Lebel by a big margin. The skinny guy in the "karate gi" beating guys substantially bigger, threw most peoples' ideas about fighting right out the window. And spawned the sport here in the states. Even though vale tudo had been around for many decades in Brazil.

Gene beat the ranked pro boxer not even supposed to be his opponent, convincingly. Which pissed off most the crowd.

Why would anyone consider Chuck Norris one of the greatest fighters of all time? If we were talking about cultural impact on karate as a sport, you might argue he was one up there, but as just a pure fighter, not even close.

The internet is filled with delusional fans that seriously believe bruce, chuck, seagal, etc. would kick ass in MMA. Hell, legit fighters have to walk on eggshells and hedge about Bruce in particular, just to avoid the massive shitstorm.

I don't know enough about these guys (except a little of Gracie) to fact check you, but 'founding fathers' of the modern sport of mma are absolutely deserving of the accolade imo.

I actually think Bruce Lee would have fared well in MMA, as his philosophy was about taking the best of every martial art and combing it into a good way to fight. He'd obviously have to dedicate himself to that, but he could have been pretty good IMO.

As he was though, (ignoring the "what if he had trained to be an MMA figher!") he isn't the greatest fighter.

Fair enough. They were some of the first big stars as the sport exploded.

If he was young right now and had all the training available today he would do well. He more or less made some of the first basic training for MMA by himself with not very much prior knowledge to learn from.

There have probably been billions of words exchanged on this topic. I'll keep my reply brief. He did not even compete in the combat sports available to him in a sanctioned venue with world ranked fighters. Thus it is reasonable imo. to assume he would not compete in MMA had he or it been concurrent with one another. He was a showman, and exceptionally bright. One loss and his mystique and career would have been adversely effected.

So, what if, again imo, should remain a Marvel comic series. :awe:

he was an amazing martial artist. A fighter though? who is to say since he didn't compete (I believe he did some exhibition matches though).
