You like FS2 too? I  you 2x as much!😀

That's an old list. Here's the new one: Text

Edit: Actually this one looks like IGN's top 100 rather than the reader's choice top 100.

Anything newer than 2 years old should not be on an all time greatest videogames list. You can't predict how much staying power a game will have when it has only been out for a few months.

And bloody hell, no Freespace 2? That game still has a loyal fan base that is churning out mods. I also don't see why Doom 3 is on there (it was good but not great) but Doom 2 wasn't on there at all.

I guess that's what you get when your average reader was born in the '90s and doesn't remember anything pre-N64/PS. I would love to see a list from older dedicated gamers.

That's right, Freespace 2's Inferno mod alone makes most newer flight sims look bad.

Now that is a decent list. I didn't see Freespace 2 in there but almost everything in there I can agree with.

A much better list but FF7 and FFX are just WAY too high (low ranked).

At least they had the brains to put Tie Fighter in there. I think I would have lost it if they didn't fit in at least one space sim in the top 10.

Yeah that list is far more sane, and less driven by trendy flavor-of-the-month games that no one will remember in a year.

Newer games are the freshest in voters minds, and thus have an unfair advantage in polls. Also, for a lot of the youth who are voting, they were raised on 3D games and have no recollection or can not understand how to enjoy a quality 2D game from the 8-Bit/16-Bit era.

It's the phenomenon of people telling you whatever movie they saw last is their all time favorite.

That's why so much mediocre or slightly above average stuff from the past year made the top 10.

Missing from list:

Homeworld
IL-2
Something from the Wing Commander series (probably III)
Something from the Civilization series (how could civilization not be on there?!?!?!)
and many more.

The editor's list is much, much better. That's a list I can live with. People rip on SNES and say dumb $hit like "the Sega Genesis was better..." but they don't know what they're talking about. SNES changed gaming, period. The only game I see missing from the editor's list is Super Bomberman with the four player multi-tap. Super Bomberman kicked major multi-player ass.

How is secret of mana higher than FF3 on the editors list? thats like the greatest RPG of all time.

And no love for Phantasy Start 4 for genesis. that game pwnt.

haha world of warcraft was #14 on the players choice. Dont' get me wrong, i like the game A LOT, but to say it was the 14th BEST game every made and leave starcraft wayyy down there near 80... uhmmm...

well what should i have expected. RE4 is #1? 😛
