Top 5 Reasons why Android is better than iPhone according to Cnet

5. Open source. They dont play games if you hack it. Alternate market place. Treated like grown ups.
4. Real multitasking.
3. Adobe Flash. Can use all web. No custom apps for each site.
2. Lots of handsets. Currently 80. Choice. Removable batteries.
1. Carriers. AT&T is the devil.

LOL - The guy list reasons but doesn't say why they are "better".

I love how it always boils down to "choice" even though there is really a false choice presented by Google.

All his listed reasons are strengths and advantages, making the platform better.

At least the first few can be remedied by jailbreaking, but yeah... This isn't news at all. They're years late with this article

I did watch the video.

What kind of reason is "AT&T".

Oh, lets look at global market share growth and then single out AT&T in the US which is a great cell phone carrier.

Laughable.

Maybe they're saying that since there's Android handsets on all carriers, if you don't like AT&T you don't need to choose them to have the Android experience.

But like always, it all boils down to choice as you already said. Obviously as we know, some people could care less about basic features that come with most smartphones.

A pretty dang good reason. If you already have a verizon phone, a tmoble phone, or several other carriers phones, you don't have to switch providers. This is especially a good reason if it just so happens that provider x provides better coverage in your area than AT&T (they aren't everywhere you know).

You personally may not have issues with using AT&T, but that doesn't mean that other people don't as well.

Both apples strength and weakness is their lack of choices. They make things look good and lock it down so that it is hard to make it look bad. This provides a clean look for everyone to observe. On the down side, this restricts people from doing what they want with the stuff they own.

Real multitasking? Talk to WebOS and Symbian. Android's multitasking is NOT real multitasking. OF course everyone is ok with Google telling you what you can have open and what you can't, but when Apple says it, everyone freaks out.

Both the android and webos use the linux kernel... So... how is webos's multitasking going to be different from androids multitasking? They use the same methods for multitasking.

ALthought I must add that I have a Droid X and I seriously do not appreciate google allowing verizon to give me blockbusters app and amazon mp3 and co and making them uninstallable...

Because Android closes things as it feels it needs to. There is no exit option for many apps.

WebOS and Symbian allow you to open as many apps as you wish. Neither iOS nor Android does that. When people tout the multitasking abilities of Android, I think it's ridiculous. Symbian and Windows Mobile have had multitasking for ages and it's full blown multitasking. Not the pussy stuff Android and iOS are churning out. I'm not amazed with iOS Multitasking, but I recognize it as sufficient. It's not like Android is an industry leader in multitasking. It's like saying a Geo Metro is a shitty car because your 1st gen Prius will out accelerate it. But it's not like your Prius is a fast car at all.

Not trolling but I tried to do something simple, get a serial number from my email and input it into Launcher Pro Plus. I couldn't figure out how, I didn't have a pen and so I thought I could multitask between my gmail and LPP, no such luck. I'd like to know how to use it. I didn't close out of either app but when I'd hit the home button to open the other I lost what was in the 1st. I would have used Cut N Paste but Androids implementation of it's so poor I gave up after trying it a few times. I know Android has multitasking built in, but it's sure as shit not easy to use.

Your information is incorrect. Android multi-tasking is no different than WebOS or Symbian. Android, like these other OSs, will allow you to open as many applications as you wish. As resources became limited, it will begin sleep(not close) the ones you haven't used. WebOS will just stop you from opening more applications once you run out of RAM.

I love how iOS multitasking is only sufficient because Steve Jobs tells you it is. 😛

Ummmm, not they're not. Because years ago these things were not known or not true or not an issue.
To make this prediction years ago would have been completely unfounded.

That is up the developer of the app to add an exit option. By defaultt he back button "closes" apps.

You can open about as many apps as you wish with android as well. It will however suspend apps(state is saved) that are in the background that are not doing anything. I am not sure how this would be different than any other platform with limited resources.
